My Current Work
Whilst researching and working on my fourth book Stitch Divas with my friend Charlotte Liddle, and since running creative school workshops, I have been exploring the world of sewing, embroidery, appliqué as well as traditional children’s craft techniques such as flower looming, French knitting, finger knitting and pom pom making. With my passion for all things vintage and quirky, my new collection of decorative wall features under my label ‘Rachieroo’ are eclectic, cute and very vintage. They show off all the techniques I love to do.
You can now purchase my wall features at my Etsy shop - www.rachieroo.etsy.com.
Recycling!
I became fascinated by recycling and customising after being commissioned by Rowan a couple of years ago to design a collection for a ‘recreation’ feature in their magazine. In my newest publication “I Love Crochet” I include a whole section dedicated to ideas for recycling your clothing and I also introduce my ideas to young girls through my latest book "Stitch Divas". I love taking an unworn or second hand garment and turning it into a completely new design, whether it be felting it, adding a trimming or just simply some embroidery - I feel it’s such an exciting process and the possibilities are endless! Watch this space for more recycled designs!
How It All Started...
Bright bold colours have always fired my imagination. Shortly after joining Rowan yarns as a Design Consultant, inspired by all the gorgeous colours and textures of wools in the local haberdashery where I was based, I began to develop my own knitted, crocheted and felted fashion designs. My first collection of quirky and colourful accessories and garments, produced under my label “Loopylu”, sold in arty boutiques in Edinburgh and through fashion events I set up to promote my own and other local young designer’s pieces.
